European Commission delays Google Motorola Mobility
The European Commission has hit the pause button on Google proposed $12.5 Billion (7.8 Billion Euros) takeover of mobile phone company Motorola Mobility, asked for the feedback from rivals and users who would be affected by the deal.
The EC wants to complete its deliberations by 10 January, but Amelia Torres, spokeswoman for the commission competition’s competition unit, announced that the deadline is suspended because commission needs from Google certain documents that are essential to its evaluation of the transaction.
A Google spokesperson said: “The European Commission has asked for more information, which is routine, while they review our Motorola Mobility acquisition. We are confident the commission will conclude that this acquisition is good for competition and we’ll be working closely and cooperatively with them as they continue their review.”

BlackBerry Drops BBX Name For Its Operating System
RIM has already had a terrible year in 2011 as it is facing stiff competition for its range of products from other Tech giants which have overpowered BlackBerry. BlackBerry’s efforts to start year 2012 with a clean slate has been thrashed by Basis international ltd by filing for a temporary restraining order for BlackBerry on using the BBX name for its latest operating system.
Three voted as the Best Mobile Broadband Provider
In Britain Three has been voted the best mobile broadband provider by comparison site Broadband Expert. The site surveyed 32,000 mobile dongle users and measured high rate of satisfaction among them. Three had an average rating of 73/100, while O2 was on second place with a rating of 65/100.
By highlighting its 7.87 per month offer on 18 months contract Three also won the best value for money awards. In an online survey O2 won the award for fastest broadband speed by pushing previous winner Vodafone to third place.
Broadband Expert spokesman Rob Webber said, “Three offers best all round mobile broadband with good speed and a service that is endorsed by the majority of its customers while maintaining its competitive pricing.”
